DVD Authoring
DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) has become the ideal medium for distributing high quality standard definition video. Our MPEG 2 flexible data compression system allows resolutions up to 1080 by 576 at 25 frames per second, and can be optimized for both regular and wide screen TV formats. MTS handle all common video formats - HD, Digital Betacam, Betacam SP, DV/DVCAM.
Authoring is the integration of audio, video and graphics into a single digital product. The product is tailored to the client's individual requirements. Access to the data is through a menu system. This is referred to as the functionality of the end product.
Authoring of a DVD-video title, for example, consists of the following steps:
- video encoding: the encoding of video to MPEG-2 at a variable bit rate.
- audio encoding: the encoding of audio to MPEG-2 stereo, MPEG-2 multichannel, Dolby Digital 5.1.
- graphics: are created by our own graphic designers.
- authoring: establishes the functionality of the DVD.
- emulation: the DVD is emulated using a disc image for an initial quality check.
- DVD-R is made and checked. A limited number of copies can also be made.
Where duplication is carried out on a large scale, the DVD image is written to DLT.
